The phone has been super busy! Please be assured that we are there so if you can’t get through leave a message and we’ll call you back or please give it 5 mins and try again. Our High St shop is of course our Crediton hub 6 mornings a week, 6 am–12 noon.

Steve Nicholls is the co-owner. Currently honing his knife skills in our cutting room.He loves to cook and eat. Always planning the next meal!

Andrew Cross

Andy Cross is the Shop Manager with 30 years of butchery experience in Crediton. The shop counter is his stage!

Peter Cann is our butcher and driver if needed. Knows more than he’ll ever let on! Makes a mean brew.

For a tasty holiday meal:

  • Take your meat out of the fridge for at least half an hour before putting in the oven
  • Don’t forget to keep all of your juices from your roasting meats ( maybe not the ham, too salty!) and add to your gravy to give it great flavour

About Us

A.J. Cox Butchers has been serving the people of Crediton since the late 1800s. Originally located in Market St next to the Square before moving to our current location in early 1900s. Crediton museum are in the process  of finding old pictures and info for us to post at a later date.

Steve Nicholls and Emma Cole purchased  A.J. Cox in August 2012.
